Pastel Fimo Jewelry, part 2

Pastel Fimo Jewelry, part 2

Hello there!

I made this jewelry set a year ago and posted pictures of it. I also made a small tutorial for this jewelry set but it never got posted. So, i thought that is was about time that I upload this. The tutorial is focusing on how to make the clay bead but i also mention the supplies needed for the whole project.

Tools I used for this project:

  • dotting tool (it’s originally for nail art)
  • Wooden skewer
  • sewing needle or pin
  • small knife

Supplies

  • Polymer clay
  • Wooden beads
  • Wet wipes
  • Jewelry thread
  • Jewelry lock
  • Jump rings
  • Earing jewelry pieces
  • FIMO Glossy Varnish

  1. Create the color you want for your project by mixing different colored clay together. You need two colors for this project, one for the base and one for the decoration.
  2. Use a pasta machine or a rolling pin to make the clay thin.
  3. Cover the wooden beads with clay. There will most likely become air bubbles in the clay. Try to get them out by making holes with a needle.
  4. When you covered the bead evenly with clay use wet wipes to remove dust and other particles from the surface.
  5. Roll the second color of clay into lengths with your hands.
  6. Depending on how big you want your decoration on the bead to be divide the roll in desirable size. Roll each piece into preferably equal balls.
  7. Put the balls on the bead in whatever way you like, I wanted to create a flower shapes throughout the bead.
  8. Use the needle or dotting tool to pull out the balls and create more depth to the design.
  9. When you are content with your creation clean it very carefully with wet wipes.
  10. Then bake them in the oven according to the instructions on the package.
  11. After they are baked and cooled put the beads on sticks, wooden skewers or something similar and paint with glossy varnish. Let this dry according to the instructions on the jar.
  12. When the varnish has dried you can start to assemble the whole jewelry.

Colorful Clay jewelry

Standard

Hello everyone!

Now autumn is more or less here, many of the leaves have change to really glowing colors while some have fallen to the ground. Lately, as I maybe have told u before, my craft has been focused around clay. I enjoy doing various projects with clay but recently I have mostly spent my time doing jewelry. Never before had I made a bracelet only consisting of clay and that was something I really wanted to try, and so I did. I just have to tell you that it was not as easy as I thought it would be to make a clay bangle bracelet. The hardest part according to me was to keep the shape I created when I continued working with it. I tried different ways to make this part easier but I think it’s inevitable that the original shape changes after working with it a while.

With the first bangle I chose to create the base of the bracelet and then bake it in the oven. After the visit in the oven I decorated the bangle with clay and baked it again. So, I will tell you what was good and bad with this way. The good thing was that it did not change its shaped when I worked with it (after being baked). I could hold it without being afraid of making any marks on the clay. I had cleaned the base from dust particles and such, that sticks to the unbaked clay, with wet wipes before baking it. That was a good thing because then the base did not attract more dust while working with the decoration part. The bad thing with this way, was that the clay (for decoration) did not stick as easily to the baked clay as to unbaked clay.

With the second bangle bracelet I did the opposite to what’s described above. So, in this case I did not bake the base of the bracelet before I started to decorate it and this was a little more of a challenge. The shape changed during the time I worked with it and I had to handle it with more care than the first one. I used the wet wipes continuously this time. The decorating part was both easier and harder with this one. The clay could stick a lot easier to the unbaked clay but the shape of both the base and the decoration kept changing as I covered all the bangle.

The photos are of both the bangles that i decribed  (purple, mint green) above and some others i made. I am also including a charm which counts as a clay jewelry as well. I did not use any glossy varnish for the jewelry this time.

I hope you all had a nice time and I wish you all a good afternoon, evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Apples in watercolor and ink

Apples in watercolor and ink

Hello there!

This post is going to be focusing around a watercolor project I did some week ago, for my grandfather’s birthday. I don’t know if you remember but last year I decorated a box with clay for him and so I thought that he could get a painting this year instead. His birthday is in September and during this time it’s the biggest apple season where we live. Apples were therefore a suiting motive for this painting. So, I searched in my computer for photos of the fruit from my grandparent’s garden and I found a very pretty one. I took photos of the projects different steps so you all can see the rough sketch to a finished painting. I used Winsor & Newton, Schmincke and Van Gogh watercolors for the painting and paper from Cartiera Magnani. The outlines are made with Pigma Micron Fineliner, in different sizes.

I hope you all have a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Clay in various shapes and formats

Standard

Hello everybody!

It’s been a really long time since I posted something, so I thought that it’s about time that I do it now. I have recently been making some jewelry and a photo frame in clay.  I use Fimo polymer clay for most of my clay projects.

For this craft I used a ready jewelry base and different colors of Fimo clay. It took me quite a while to finish this one because of the small format and the details. I like to use glossy varnish to give the clay more life and depth.

The photo frame is made in the same way as my previous photo frame project. I used a store bought wooden frame and covered it with thin rolled out Fimo clay. Then I made the animals and scenery. This type of project usually takes me some days to make, if I don’t sit several hours in a row with it.

I hope you all have a good afternoon, evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this planet.

A weeks drawing with WorldWatercolorGroup Challange January part 3 & 4

Standard

Hello everybody!
So, now it’s no longer January but the second month of the February. This post is going to be about the last two weeks of the WorldWatercolorGroup January Challenge. Well I think that we just dive into it straight away then.
Day 16: Dandelions
As a child, I had several bunnies and my family and I always picked the dandelion leaves for them. I picked so many that they almost didn’t fit in my hand and that’s the memory that inspired this drawing.
Day 17: Candy
This is a marshmallow like candy that looks like a miniature ice cream and I tell you this, they were my favorite when I was maybe around 6 years old. I choose to draw a green one but pink and white once also exist. The first time I ate this candy was around Christmas time and it was actually a man dressed as Santa that offered me this candy and several other kids. I believe that is was during a Christmas market or something like that.

Day 18: Books
I had many books in my bookshelf during my childhood years and still have but the content has of course changed. When I think about books that I had as a kid many and many books comes to my mind but there was one book that was better than all the others. It was a book with filled with fairy tales. It contained one fairy tale for each day during a whole year, 365 sagas. That was my absolute favorite book because it was so versatile.

Day 19: Building Toy
I can say that I had some trouble with this task. I had to think quite some time before I decided to depict Duplo. My sibling and I had a whole box filled with Duplo with all the colors of the rainbow. I just made a fast drawing of some different colored Duplo. We also played with Lego but then we were a little older.

Day 20: Art Supplies
In the first grades of school we received a box of crayons. I actually still have one of those boxes but without going on a treasure hunt for it, I remember more or less how it looked like. The box was mostly red but was partly yellow and the part that the crayons laid was cardboard brown.

Day 21: Snacks
This was and kind of still is one of my favorite snacks. Its heart shaped chips with holes in them and I do believe that the flavor is something like sour cream or garlic.

Day 22: Insects
The lady bug is maybe one of the prettiest insects I know and I remember how I used to save them from drowning in the public outdoor pool in the summers. So, this was the first insect that came to my mind when I was going to do this drawing.

Day 23: Bicycle
I actually had a three-wheeled bike but because I painted directly from my head without any reference photos it medically got four wheels but I don’t really see it as a big problem but it’s a great example that the mind can play tricks on you.

Day 24: Grandmothers Jam (Altered by me)
I don’t know if it like that with everyone but at least I loved al the food that my grandmother prepared and no one else’s food could ever measure with grandmothers. In the end of summer or even in the middle of autumn we used to pick blackberries in the forest and then my grandmother made the loveliest jam I ever eaten, no store-bought jam can compare.
Day 25: Bubblegum
In the grocery shops where I grow up the almost always had the bubblegum at the cash register and then you suddenly realized that you needed bubblegum really bad. I was lucky though because both my mother and my grandmother loves to chew bubblegum and it so happened to be that we all liked the same brand which was package had very vivid colors.
Day 26: Imaginary Creature
I know for certainty that I did not have or created an imaginary creature as a child but if I did I think that it might could have looked something like this drawing.

Day 27: Kite
I seem to have a vague memory of a kite lying around our house and of course I think that I tried to fly with it but I can’t really recall to be honest. What I do know is that I looked quite the same as the one I captured on paper.

Day 28: Pancakes
The pancakes that I grew up with is nothing like the American pancakes. They are thin and more like the French crepe but a lot smaller, the size can actually vary from very small to quite big once. To pancakes we had and usually have whipped cream and some type of jam and if the occasion calls for it some fresh berries. We even have a special pancakes iron for the small once.

Day 29: Puzzles
I loved to lay puzzles when I was small and it so happen to be that I still enjoy it from time to time. My grandmother used to give me a new puzzle each year for Christmas and then my mom, grandmother, grandfather and I used to puzzle during the holidays. The motives I got could vary from flower fields to dogs in sun chairs. I had such nice memories with puzzles.

Day 30: Bubble wrap
I have never really been that fascinated about bubble wrap. I have of course played with it when we got a package home and something was wrapped with it. My brother and I actually liked to lay it out on the floor and jump up one it with our feet.

Day 31: Birthday cake
In my family, we usually always had two cake for every family member’s birthday. The reason for that was different taste buds and allergies. One the table at every birthday or festive occasion there was a kladdkaka, which is a gooey chocolate cake that is a must where I come from. The big purple cake was one of my favorite when I was about 8 years old maybe, it was an ice cream berry cake.

A weeks drawing with WorldWatercolorGroup Challange part 2

Standard

Hello everybody!

This is the third post in 2017 and it’s going to revolve around the World Watercolor Group Challenge. I will show you all my drawings from last week and I will also talk a little bit about what I chose to depict. It will probably take a little time before I post the drawing from this week. (Note: I have noticed that some of my spelling is incorrect in my drawings.)

img_0002-2

Day 8: French Fries

I chose to draw Fish n Chips that was and still is one of my favorite foods. I really liked eating this when we were at markets or festivals as a child. That’s why I painted my favorite dish and not only French Fries by themselves.

Day 9: Cooking Toy/ Food Toy

I altered it to a food toy because did not have any cooking toy as a child, at least not what I could think of.  I remember that I had a toy register and plastic food that I played food store with. I tried to remember what type of plastic food that I had to play with and I know that the once you see here, I had them. The one that is stuck in my memory is the green peas for what reason I don’t know, they just are.

Day 10: Outdoor Game

I did not have such a hard time finding out what to draw this week. The objects I wanted to paint just kind of came to me by just looking at the titles of the day. The outdoor game I picked for this task is called ‘’Kubb’’ and is a very usual outdoor game where I come from. We used to and of course still do, play it during the summers with family and friends. We have actually even played it in school.

Day 11: Frozen Treats

This was an ice cream that I loved as a child but then all of a sudden they stopped selling it. So, I had a very hard time remembering its name and that’s why I had to draw it from my memory. Each time I when to the public swimming pool my grandmother bought me this delicious ice cream.

img_0004-2

Day 12: Rubber Duckie

I am not hundred percent sure if I had a rubber duck but I have a vaguely memory of one. If my memory does not fail me I think that quite similar to my drawing.

Day 13: Pet

I had several animals during my childhood but I chose to paint my latest rodent that was a Siberian hamster. She was such a cute little girl and she was super fast. I remember that she sat in the palm of my hand and still she did not cover half of my hand.

Day 14: Visual Toy

I did not own this toy myself, it was my brothers. But I used to play with it from time to time. The one you see here is what I believe the exact same type that my brother had.  I noticed that the color of this drawing did not turned out as it is in real life when I scanned it into the computer.

Day 15: Television Character

This was a very popular TV show several years ago where I come from. I think that they aired it each evening during many years. It was about a bear that lived in a storehouse with his snail friend. They usually got visitors that they did some kind of adventure with. That is at least what I can remember about the TV show.

I hope you all had a very nice time in this post.

I wish you all a good afternoon, evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

A weeks drawing with WorldWatercolorGroup Challenge

Standard

Hi there!
I had been thinking a long time about participating in some sort of art challenge and the World Watercolor Group hosted by Doodlewash caught my eyes. So, I started the first of January with this and so far it has been very fun and educational for me. I really enjoy that the theme is about Childhood Memories because that makes me remember things I haven’t thought about in a long time. It’s fun to go through memories in your brain and pick out one that you would like to draw and bring to life once again. I am very pleased with myself that I finally gave this a try because I absolutely love it.
I go after the list ‘’31 things to paint in January!’’ to get suggestions for what to draw every day and this far I have followed it. However, I know that I will not do some of the day’s suggestions because they are nothing that I can associate with and therefore I will alter it a little or change it according to me.

img_0003-2_li
Day 1: Board Game
I had a hard time to decide which game a wanted to paint so I choose to do two. One of the games is ‘’Cluedo’’ and I used to play it with my whole family including uncle and cousins. The second game is a chess board that also becomes a box that my dad had in one of the high bookshelves when I was small. It was not only a chess game but also contained another game if you turned the board upside down.

Day 2: Zoo Animal
For this task, I had to search through my mind to find a very old memory, of maybe my first time to the zoo. I choose to depict a lynx and it’s an animal that I never have drawn before.

Day 3: Educational Toy
I think that I had to search through my mind a little bit for every task and this one was no different. The toy I choose to draw has been with me and probably my sibling all out lives and I think that it’s a very clever educational toy for small children. The educational part with this toy was that you could learn how to count with the different colored beads and also learn and understand the clock.

img_0002-2

Day 4: Stuffed Animal
The stuffed animal was a clear choice for me. I tried to make it resemble my first and still ‘’living’’ teddy bear. He has a dark brown fur and around his neck sits a light brown ribbon with a small bowl.

Day 5: Movie Character
As a child, I loved everything that had to do with ‘’My Little Pony’’. I had several of the little horses as toys and I watched the movies over and over again. That’s why I thought it suiting to picture this character.

Day 6: Electronic Game
I was not that into electronic games when I was little so that’s why I had a hard time figuring out what to make for day 6. The Tamagotchi became popular once again when I was younger. Tamagotchi was a little electronic animal that you were supposed to take care of or it died. My brother had one that I kind of inherited from him. However, I did not use it very much but it was the only electronic game that I could think of.

Day 7: Balloons
Balloons were always, at least in my case, present at birthdays and other types of celebrations. I do remember that I got a big balloon shaped as a cellphone. So, that is what you can see in the seventh drawing and some other usual balloons.

I hope that you had a fun time in this post because I really had a good time creating these little drawings.
I wish you all a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.
