A study of bees, honeybees and bumblebees: part 1

Hello there!

I have started with a bigger study of bees and bumblebees in the shape of three paintings. Here are some close ups from this project. I used pencil to sketch the objects and then I went in with watercolor.

I wish you all a good evening, night, morning, afternoon or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Mosaic here, there and everywhere

Hello everybody!
This weekend a long and quite testing project came to its end. For a long time, my mom wished to have a Moroccan mosaic garden table and now finally this year we decided to get one. But I also thought that I would give it a try myself. Therefore, the end of the summer I started with a mosaic table, my first ever mosaic project. At first I couldn’t decide what tiles and color combination that I would use. After a lot of research and inspiration on sites like Pinterest, an image of the table appeared in my mind. I bought small mosaic stones on sheets in various shades of green and blue. An old garden table, that was in need of a remodeling would become my guinea pig during this process. The table top is made of glass and that’s why I had to use a special multifunctional glue for outside use instead of the ordinary sealant. I also had to think about the weight of the mosaic of the tabletops material.
The first step I took with this table was to clean the surface so the glue could stick properly. I wanted to have a complex pattern and I wanted to decide the color combination of the mosaics. Therefore, I had to cut out all the stones from the sheets and then sort them in to piles according to color. I should say that only this process took a long time and if I would do it again I would not buy mosaic sheets only loose stones, at least when you are dealing with more detailed layouts.

The second step consisted of sketching the design on the glass surface. I had different round objects that I used as stencils to create circles. Before jumping into the gluing I place mosaic as outlines around every circle and then I started to glue them to the table. It was very sticky and detailed but it didn’t make it easier that I had to use gloves to protect my hands. I found that a big tweezer was very helpful when placing the mosaic in the glue. This step of the project was the most time consuming and took me maybe one week with late nights. It was important to me that all the circles were distinctive and of course some time also flew by when I tried to make this possible. I actually finished up with the gluing part some month ago but however there is a third step and you could say that it is the most crucial stage.

The third and last step was to use grout between all the spaces. I would think that it wouldn’t take that long time and that much effort but it was more work than one can expect. To fill in the spaces with grout approximately took an afternoon because you also need to polish of the grout from the mosaic stones witch can be a little tricky. Before you start putting on the grout put some masking tape to protect the table stands edges. But now two months later the table top seems to be finished maybe some extra details will be added later on but basically its done. The details that I mentioned was that I possibly want to change the color of the table stand from grey to black, but of that I’m not quite sure yet. I also decorated two folding chairs with the same mosaic, this time I kept the sheet on the back because the design is simpler than the table. The chairs are in desperate need of a new splash of paint and that is something I will do when the time is given.
I wrapped up the project this weekend and now today mom mothers real Moroccan table arrived. I compared the two tables but it’s quite hard to do so because they are to unlike for it to be a fair comparison. I like both of them but I dared to say that I adore mine a bit more.

If you see something fluffy in the pictures is my dog, he is always around when things are occuring.
List of supplies
Table (the table top does not have to be of glass)
Mosaic, tile in whatever shape or color you prefer
Mosaic tools such as Tile Nippers and Tile Cutters, then YOU WILL need PROTECTIVE GLASSES! if you want to shape or cut your tile.
Multifunctional glue that fits for your surface and purpose or sealant (depending on your surface)
Big tweezer
Plastic gloves

The Magic Of The Night

So now at last the summer is here with its sunshine and beautiful day but of course the rainy days to. All of this is a part of the summer and thats what I’ve been looking forward to.

Today it was one of the warmest days i think, but maybe it was also becaouse I was working in the garden. I have finally placed the stones in the place i want them and then I have to use some concrete to make it stable. So its been a hard working day today and tomorow I will probably continue with it and then I have to to a make-over to one of my flowerbeds. So hoppefully I will be soon finished.

But I am also thinking about to make like some decorations for the garden. Maybe some lanterns of some jars or cans and I have decied to try once again to make things in concrete.

I got souch a wounderful idea today when I was working in the garden. Its a very different way to have your flowers. When I have made this ideas to reality I will take a photo and share with you.

Now im in this kind of state where I paint maquerade masks. I find them so beautiful and fun to paint them. There are so many kinds, shapes and sizes of masks. But I have also started to make a mask of my own. So far I’ve only made the base but I will decorated it. I just have a hard time to decied how I want it to look like ( there are so many ideas in my head but soon it will come to me )

I have more drawing thatv i will submit soon. This mask drawing is not finished yet.

With Spring Comes Flowers

Hi !

So now I am really positive that the winter is over. Today is was a very nice day and I just had to be out in the garden. I started to clen upp after the winter, but i can not digg yet because the ground is still frozen. But I have bought flower seeds that I ‘am goning to plant and let them grow inside, and when they are large enough and warmer outside I will plant them in the garden. I have big plans for this garden season. So my to do list is quite long. For example we are going to make our pond biger and get more waterplants. I have so many ideas and things I want to do. Only thing is that I have to wait til is gets warmer.

So today I started to sketch on a vase of lilacs and some cookies. I think that it is going to be really pretty. I will show it to you guys when i have made more progress.

I have lots of thing to show you. You now the decoupaged cabinet I have talked about before, well now it is finished( almost, only have to find a place for it) I used vintage greeting cards, images, ads and fabric to decoupage it with.

I will post some more pictures of it later.

Hope you all have a nice day / evening

Bye Bye

See You Soon

Trouble, spring and craft

Hi !

I hope this post gets published have had some trouble with posting things the last few days. I have written things and then they have just disappeared. So I will try once again to write something.

I took actually a photo of the snow 2 days ago and that was lucky because now it is gone. And I think that maybe it was the last time it was snow now for a long time. So I will so you guys  hopefully the last snow for now. Yesterday the spring sun came out and lighten up the day and if that is not a sign for spring I don’t know what.

I have tried to make som crafts with metal cans insted of just throwing them away. First i tried to paint them with acrylic color and some of them turned out well and some did not. I almost think that you need to use a special kind of paint on the metal cans, so that the paint won’t come of. I also tried to decoupage them, and it was very fun to do that. They also looked very pretty. But I have not decided yet what to use them for. They just have to stand and look pretty till i figure that out.

Now when I am still talking about decoupage I just wanted to tell you about a thing I’am working on. It is a small cabinet that i have painted white and then am going to decoupage the inside and the outside with vintage images, like ads and post cards. I just love the look of vintage things. Maybe soon I will be finished with that, so I can show you.

I am also working on a bracelet that is inspired of enlish afternoon tea. So I have made clay miniature pastries and bread to have as charms on the bracelet. It is not fnished yet but in time I will submit a photo.

Hope you all have a nice day

See you soon

Bye Bye
