A weeks drawing with WorldWatercolorGroup Challange part 2

Standard

Hello everybody!

This is the third post in 2017 and it’s going to revolve around the World Watercolor Group Challenge. I will show you all my drawings from last week and I will also talk a little bit about what I chose to depict. It will probably take a little time before I post the drawing from this week. (Note: I have noticed that some of my spelling is incorrect in my drawings.)

Day 8: French Fries

I chose to draw Fish n Chips that was and still is one of my favorite foods. I really liked eating this when we were at markets or festivals as a child. That’s why I painted my favorite dish and not only French Fries by themselves.

Day 9: Cooking Toy/ Food Toy

I altered it to a food toy because did not have any cooking toy as a child, at least not what I could think of.  I remember that I had a toy register and plastic food that I played food store with. I tried to remember what type of plastic food that I had to play with and I know that the once you see here, I had them. The one that is stuck in my memory is the green peas for what reason I don’t know, they just are.

Day 10: Outdoor Game

I did not have such a hard time finding out what to draw this week. The objects I wanted to paint just kind of came to me by just looking at the titles of the day. The outdoor game I picked for this task is called ‘’Kubb’’ and is a very usual outdoor game where I come from. We used to and of course still do, play it during the summers with family and friends. We have actually even played it in school.

Day 11: Frozen Treats

This was an ice cream that I loved as a child but then all of a sudden they stopped selling it. So, I had a very hard time remembering its name and that’s why I had to draw it from my memory. Each time I when to the public swimming pool my grandmother bought me this delicious ice cream.

Day 12: Rubber Duckie

I am not hundred percent sure if I had a rubber duck but I have a vaguely memory of one. If my memory does not fail me I think that quite similar to my drawing.

Day 13: Pet

I had several animals during my childhood but I chose to paint my latest rodent that was a Siberian hamster. She was such a cute little girl and she was super fast. I remember that she sat in the palm of my hand and still she did not cover half of my hand.

Day 14: Visual Toy

I did not own this toy myself, it was my brothers. But I used to play with it from time to time. The one you see here is what I believe the exact same type that my brother had.  I noticed that the color of this drawing did not turned out as it is in real life when I scanned it into the computer.

Day 15: Television Character

This was a very popular TV show several years ago where I come from. I think that they aired it each evening during many years. It was about a bear that lived in a storehouse with his snail friend. They usually got visitors that they did some kind of adventure with. That is at least what I can remember about the TV show.

I hope you all had a very nice time in this post.

I wish you all a good afternoon, evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Swedish princess cake of yarn

Standard

Hi there once again! Today it seems like I will publish two posts. These gifts have already been given so I thought I would let you all see it.

So I made small swedish princess cakes out of crochet and then I connected them to keychain rings. I later attatched, to the keychain, small handmade Fimo Clay charms with my initials and the namn of my website. Then I printed a gift box template from Pinterest and cut out the box. I used double-sided tape to put the box together and some string for decoration. I created these gifts for my boyfriends teachers as a Christmas  gift.

I wish you all once again a great holiday and a good afternoon, evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Christmas on it’s way

Standard

Hello everyone!
Now it’s December and the countdown to Christmas has begun. My craft workshop is filled with things that are waiting to be fixed into something handmade. I nearly can’t find a free spot where I can sit and create, but I’m working on my crafts everyday so hopefully the table will soon see daylight. I have many things I would like to share with you all this month so I will try to make some extra posts. In this blog entry, I’m going to focus on Christmas gift wrapping and especially the tags. When I was wrapping up some presents a few days ago I noticed that we had a shortage on gift tags. If you have read my blog you may have figured out already that I made my own gift tags. This was actually very quick and easy. I looked through my scrapbooking paper supply for Christmas themed paper. Then I drew a stencil on how I wanted the tags to look like and then I use this stencil and a pen to outline the tags. I cut out the shapes from the paper and then I use a very handy tool called hole puncher to create the small holes so I can attach the tags to the gifts.

I hope you had a nice read.
I wish you all a good night, morning, day or evening wherever you may be on this earth.

Crochet for little feet

Standard

Hello again, and yes I’m back so soon with an old craft.

I see myself as a crafter with few limits or at least I try to broaden my view in the craft world as much as I can. Today I would like to share with you another type of craft that I make and that’s crochet. I rather much prefer crochet over knitting but that is of course only my opinion. When I was a child I always tried to knit a scarf every Christmas but I never came too far with that, so I never got to enjoy knitting. When I told this story, someone said ‘’ why don’t you try crochet, it’s so much fun’’ and so I did and I’ve been doing it ever since. I’m such a person that can make many crochet projects after another and then it can take months before I start again. But I usually always make a crochet Christmas gift, at least one every year. I think that things made from yarn are very suiting for the holiday season. I am happy to say that I one year managed to crochet a whole scarf. Last December I crocheted my most complicated project yet, I made small baby converse for an acquaintance that expected her second child. She loves converse and that’s why I decided to create small soft baby converse.

I found many free tutorials on how to crochet baby converse shoes on YouTube. So, I watched different of them and I think that I mixed some of the videos to get the shoe as I wanted. If you are interested of doing something similar I recommend looking at YouTube.

I don’t remember how much yarn I used for this project but it wasn’t too much. I can at least say that an autumn scarf needs more yarn than these two small shoes.

I hope that you had a nice time in this post with old crafts.

I wish you all a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

A flying invitation

Standard

Hello there!
Since I was absent for such a long time before this September it’s maybe not a surprise that I have a lot of older crafts that I would like to show you all. So every once in a while I thought that I will submit some posts that revolve around some of my older projects but I will of course also come with new stuff.
The craft that I will show you in this post is my handmade graduation invitations. I made these last year for my own graduation. I have a thing for butterflies and I have always loved these small creatures. I loved them so much as a child, that my childhood bedroom had to be covered with butterfly wallpaper.
I got the idea and design for this project from Pinterest, but I drew my own stencils so I got the invitations exactly how I wanted them to be. I made the cards from hard white hard scrapbooking paper and then I decorated the butterflies with patterned scrapbooking paper. The envelopes are that I used are the usual type that I think you can find almost anywhere. I made a stencil of the envelope’s inside, then I used it to cut out the envelopes shape on the printed papers. To decorate the inside of the envelopes with the printed paper I used double-sided tape. I put some string around the cards to finish of the invitations summery look. I thought that it would be more fun if the cards were different, so that everyone received a specialized invitation.
I hope you had a nice time in this little post.
I wish you all a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Clay jewelry, in the color of autumn

Standard

Hi everybody!
Today it’s very visible that autumn has arrived and worked its way through the trees and leaves (at least where I live). When I looked out the window only some days ago a tree was full of bright yellow leaves and today there is only a few sad leaves fighting against the wind to stay on the branches. But that is of course the way of this season and that’s why I thought it would be suiting for something related to autumn and its shades. This week it was my mother’s birthday and of course I could not resist the urge to create something handmade for her. I started to think about her present some weeks before her day and I thought that she could use some new jewelry and then I combined that with her favorite berry, physalis. By chance the berry happens to have fall colors, at least I relate this berry with this season. I decided to make this craft with FIMO, polymer clay which I thought was the best medium to use for this project.

Here is some photos of the berry I had as refernace for this project.

I began the process with finding reference photos, so I got the colors and shapes relatively correct. Then I mixed orange, red, yellow and some white clay in my pasta machine to get the right shades for my berries. For the leaves, I used different tones of green clay and then yellow, orange and white clay. Then I shaped the clay roughly and put the different colored parts on jewelry wire pins. When the clay well was on the pins I could shape, and form the clay even more with my clay modelling tools. If you don’t have any modelling tools you can take usual household things like a needle. I always use skewers of wood. So, when I found the right shape that I wanted the berries and the leaves they got a trip to the oven for 30 minutes in 110 Celsius.

When all the clay pieces had cooled down they got a painted with a coat of FIMO Gloss Varnish. I let the varnish dry until the next day and then it was time to create wire loops out of the remaining parts of the wire pins. The reason for making wire loops is so you can connect your charms to a bracelet or something similar. I connected my charms with jewelry chains which I later attached to a big wire ring that I had decorated with brown macramé. I didn’t want the charm to be to big, because it was supposed to be a necklace and therefore I got some clay pieces left over. I used the left overs to make a pair of matching earrings. The finishing touches consisted of joining all the parts together so they became whole jewelry pieces.

I am very pleased to say that my mom got very happy for her present and I got satisfied with my progress within the field of clay.
I hope you all had a nice time reading and viewing this post as well.
I wish you all a nice Saturday and a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Pastel Fimo Jewelry

Standard

Hello all you people out there! I thought that I should update my blog a little bit extra now after such a long break from blogging. When I create something if it’s in clay or some other material it’s usually a present for somebody. I like to give away handmade things because to me it feels more special than something store-bought.

So this post is about a handmade gift just like the previous two posts I submitted. This time I made something a little bit smaller, a jewelry-set, a bracelet and a matching pair of earrings. The gift is made for someone who helped me a lot with different things. That’s why I want to thank her by giving away something I hope will be special.

The bracelet consists of handmade fimo beads and bought white pearls and all of the beads of the earrings are handmade by me. The technique I used on the beads are in some places called embroidery or applique. When I first bumped into this technique I thought it looked so complicated and hard but when I well tried it my opinion changed. I will try to make a tutorial on clay embroidery/applique the next time I use the technique but I will also show you how to save clay when you are making beads. I hope that you are interested in this or maybe you have other suggestions for what you would like to see? Then please do tell me.

I did not only make the present but also the gift boxes for the jewelry. I used scrapbooking paper witch a have a whole bunch of and created small paper gift bags. Last years I made several of these bags for an advents calendar we had at home. The gift bags are very useful and can have many purposes, it’s only the imagination that sets the limitations. Maybe a tutorial for this can be appropriate when Christmas is getting closer or new year’s eve.

I wish you enjoyed Reading and viewing this post and now I hope you all have a great day, night or morning wherever you may be on this earth.
