Botanical Easter Eggs

Standard

Hello everyone!

This year I decorated some candy Easter eggs for a more personal look. I used acrylic paint as a base and for the leaves. For the details I used posca pens and ink.

I wish you all a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Blue horse

Standard

Hi there! The snow has been gone for some days now and the signs of spring are getting more and more obvious. I have a light and colorful watercolor painting I made that has a spring feeling to it.  The painting is a somewhat different take on the traditional Swedish Dala horse (a wooden horse figurine from the province Dalarna, traditionally red) I usually take photos of my work process and it’s no different this time.

For this painting i used:

A pencil, for sketching

Eraser

Ink pen, for the outlines

Maskingfluid, to cover the parts I didnt want to be blue

Watercolor paint, winsor and Newton, schmincke

Watercolor Paper, The Langton Prestige

Watercolor paintbrush

I wish you all a good evening, night, morning, afternoon or day wherever you may be on this earth.

Spring in snow

Spring in snow

Hello there!

It’s been talked about that spring was on its way and flowers such as snowdrops have been blooming. Some day ago ice cold winds and snow appeared.

I maybe have mentioned this before, but i have a Watercolor sketchbook where I do smaller drawings and illustrations. The cold weather made me think that it could be nice to see some signs of spring and summer, which I have created in my Watercolor book. I like to have small projects or do a little drawing a day. I love to depict Nature and especially flowers, so that is What I mostly paint.

We had some very beautiful red tulips at home some week ago and so I couldn’t resist to paint one of them as a fast drawing.

I wish you all a good day, evening, night, morning or afternoon wherever you may be on this planet.

Apples in watercolor and ink

Apples in watercolor and ink

Hello there!

This post is going to be focusing around a watercolor project I did some week ago, for my grandfather’s birthday. I don’t know if you remember but last year I decorated a box with clay for him and so I thought that he could get a painting this year instead. His birthday is in September and during this time it’s the biggest apple season where we live. Apples were therefore a suiting motive for this painting. So, I searched in my computer for photos of the fruit from my grandparent’s garden and I found a very pretty one. I took photos of the projects different steps so you all can see the rough sketch to a finished painting. I used Winsor & Newton, Schmincke and Van Gogh watercolors for the painting and paper from Cartiera Magnani. The outlines are made with Pigma Micron Fineliner, in different sizes.

I hope you all have a good evening, night, morning or day wherever you may be on this earth.

A weeks drawing with WorldWatercolorGroup Challange January part 3 & 4

Standard

Hello everybody!
So, now it’s no longer January but the second month of the February. This post is going to be about the last two weeks of the WorldWatercolorGroup January Challenge. Well I think that we just dive into it straight away then.
Day 16: Dandelions
As a child, I had several bunnies and my family and I always picked the dandelion leaves for them. I picked so many that they almost didn’t fit in my hand and that’s the memory that inspired this drawing.
Day 17: Candy
This is a marshmallow like candy that looks like a miniature ice cream and I tell you this, they were my favorite when I was maybe around 6 years old. I choose to draw a green one but pink and white once also exist. The first time I ate this candy was around Christmas time and it was actually a man dressed as Santa that offered me this candy and several other kids. I believe that is was during a Christmas market or something like that.

Day 18: Books
I had many books in my bookshelf during my childhood years and still have but the content has of course changed. When I think about books that I had as a kid many and many books comes to my mind but there was one book that was better than all the others. It was a book with filled with fairy tales. It contained one fairy tale for each day during a whole year, 365 sagas. That was my absolute favorite book because it was so versatile.

Day 19: Building Toy
I can say that I had some trouble with this task. I had to think quite some time before I decided to depict Duplo. My sibling and I had a whole box filled with Duplo with all the colors of the rainbow. I just made a fast drawing of some different colored Duplo. We also played with Lego but then we were a little older.

Day 20: Art Supplies
In the first grades of school we received a box of crayons. I actually still have one of those boxes but without going on a treasure hunt for it, I remember more or less how it looked like. The box was mostly red but was partly yellow and the part that the crayons laid was cardboard brown.

Day 21: Snacks
This was and kind of still is one of my favorite snacks. Its heart shaped chips with holes in them and I do believe that the flavor is something like sour cream or garlic.

Day 22: Insects
The lady bug is maybe one of the prettiest insects I know and I remember how I used to save them from drowning in the public outdoor pool in the summers. So, this was the first insect that came to my mind when I was going to do this drawing.

Day 23: Bicycle
I actually had a three-wheeled bike but because I painted directly from my head without any reference photos it medically got four wheels but I don’t really see it as a big problem but it’s a great example that the mind can play tricks on you.

Day 24: Grandmothers Jam (Altered by me)
I don’t know if it like that with everyone but at least I loved al the food that my grandmother prepared and no one else’s food could ever measure with grandmothers. In the end of summer or even in the middle of autumn we used to pick blackberries in the forest and then my grandmother made the loveliest jam I ever eaten, no store-bought jam can compare.
Day 25: Bubblegum
In the grocery shops where I grow up the almost always had the bubblegum at the cash register and then you suddenly realized that you needed bubblegum really bad. I was lucky though because both my mother and my grandmother loves to chew bubblegum and it so happened to be that we all liked the same brand which was package had very vivid colors.
Day 26: Imaginary Creature
I know for certainty that I did not have or created an imaginary creature as a child but if I did I think that it might could have looked something like this drawing.

Day 27: Kite
I seem to have a vague memory of a kite lying around our house and of course I think that I tried to fly with it but I can’t really recall to be honest. What I do know is that I looked quite the same as the one I captured on paper.

Day 28: Pancakes
The pancakes that I grew up with is nothing like the American pancakes. They are thin and more like the French crepe but a lot smaller, the size can actually vary from very small to quite big once. To pancakes we had and usually have whipped cream and some type of jam and if the occasion calls for it some fresh berries. We even have a special pancakes iron for the small once.

Day 29: Puzzles
I loved to lay puzzles when I was small and it so happen to be that I still enjoy it from time to time. My grandmother used to give me a new puzzle each year for Christmas and then my mom, grandmother, grandfather and I used to puzzle during the holidays. The motives I got could vary from flower fields to dogs in sun chairs. I had such nice memories with puzzles.

Day 30: Bubble wrap
I have never really been that fascinated about bubble wrap. I have of course played with it when we got a package home and something was wrapped with it. My brother and I actually liked to lay it out on the floor and jump up one it with our feet.

Day 31: Birthday cake
In my family, we usually always had two cake for every family member’s birthday. The reason for that was different taste buds and allergies. One the table at every birthday or festive occasion there was a kladdkaka, which is a gooey chocolate cake that is a must where I come from. The big purple cake was one of my favorite when I was about 8 years old maybe, it was an ice cream berry cake.
